A cycling dream between wheat fields and idyllic rivers with a combination of plains, hills, hills and picturesque places. Picturesque villages interwoven with expanses of cultivated fields and green vineyard hills are a feature of Slavonia, Baranja and western Srijem.

The region unites five counties, and there are also five city centers: Osijek, Vukovar, Slavonski Brod, Požega and Virovitica.

The two cities guard the largest fortification buildings in continental Croatia - baroque forts on the very bank of the river; Osijek the one on the Drava – Osijek Tvrđa, and Slavonski Brod the one on the Sava – Tvrđava Brod.

From a cycling point of view, Osijek is a Slavonian city of bicycles where you feel like a "king on a bicycle" because it has the most kilometers of bicycle paths, and it is really best to get to know it by bicycle. The city is a harmoniously connected baroque urban core and military fortifications from the beginning of the 18th century, which gives it a special charm. Osijek's promenade along the Drava is entirely a bicycle path. You can take it all the way to the "Kompa" pier on the Drava, then across the river to the Zoo and back across one of the two bridges, enjoying the most beautiful views of the city.

NATURE PARK – KOPAČKI RIT

Near Osijek is the Kopački rit Nature Park, one of the largest floodplains in Europe.

The attractive park is best spent by bike exploring numerous canals and lakes full of bird life, for which it is widely known and among the biggest attractions of the UNESCO cross-border biosphere reserve Mura - Drava - Danube. Since in Kopačevo you can spend the night in a camp or rural tourism, and bicycles can be rented in the visitor center of the Nature Park.

Banska kosa, Baranja

The beauty of Baranja is also made up of top wines from the sunny positions of Banska kosa.

For the view of the sea of ​​green vineyards, it is mandatory to climb by bike from Karanac to the highest peak Kamenjak (244 m), the picturesque vineyards leave you breathless!

VUKOVAR

The Croatian section of EuroVelo 6 - the Danube bicycle route passes through Slavonia and Baranja.

It is 138 kilometers long. It enters at the border crossing Duboševica in Baranja, and exits at the border crossing Ilok. It is a particularly interesting and worthwhile visit considering that it passes through the picturesque area of ​​Baranje with the Kopački Nature Park and the cycling city of Osijek, the confluence of the Drava and the Danube in Aljmaš, the Erdut vineyards and the particularly valuable and beautiful EDEN cultural tourism destinations of Vukovar - Vučedol - Ilok.

In Vukovar, on the banks of the Danube, there is the Eltz castle, one of the most significant works of baroque-classicist architecture in continental Croatia from the half of the 18th century. Along with it, in Vukovar there is also the most beautiful museum exhibition about an insufficiently known, but above all valuable world culture of the Younger Copper Age (3rd millennium BC) called the Vučedol culture. In nearby Vinkovci, you can cycle through three cycling routes - the blue Borinci route (19 km), the red Bosut route (15 km) and the yellow Sopot route (21 km) described and shown on the map available at the tourist office.

ERDUT

If you decide on a different route, there are rest stops for cycle tourists in Erdut and Aljmaš. Bicycle racks, e-benches, e-lighting, info board-tourist map of Erdut municipality, trash cans, benches and tables were installed, and the existing wooden joinery was repaired.

On this route you can see numerous vineyards and visit sights such as ADAMOVIĆ-CSEH CASTLE, MEDIEVAL CITY - ERDUTSKA TOWER, "Our Lady of Refuge" Church in Aljmaš, etc.
