For your first visit to Osijek, we recommend you to visit Tvrđa, the old fortified core of the city from the 18th century, where you will see some of the most valuable copies of Baroque architecture in Croatia such as the votive statue of St. Trinity and the General - Barracks building.
Passing through the belt of the large parks (there are as many as 17 parks in the city) you will come to the Art Noveau district with private and public monumental palaces such as gallery buildings, court, and post office.
A parallel path to the main Square of Ante Starčević leads you along the Drava River, and with a leisurely walk along the promenade you will reach St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral. The Cathedral was completed in 1898 with its 90-meter-high tower, and today it is the tallest building in Osijek, and the second tallest church in Croatia, and in the middle and southern Danube.
A walk upstream of the promenade will lead you to the vantage point over the Drava and "Kompa", a scaffolding that will transport you to the left bank of the Drava River to the Osijek ZOO.
A beautiful view of the whole city extends from the suspension pedestrian bridge – Youth Bridge, where, if you are taken by the moment, you can leave your love padlock.
If the weather is nice and warm enough for swimming, you can visit the sandy beach on the Drava - Copacabane beach, where you can follow the river cruisers entering the city center of Osijek with tourists from all over the world.
